Refurbishment of 3 science laboratories
We were delighted to be awarded the contract to refurbish three science laboratories at Woodkirk Academy. Working closely with the School ensured their layout design requirements were met for the new teaching spaces. Existing service ducts required extending, walls demolishing & erecting to accommodate the change of teaching orientation in each lab before furniture installation could be started.
The A-Z site team ensured services were isolated before existing furniture was carefully removed. New service riser positions were created to
accommodate the new layout and floor channels cut into the slab to carry the new gas and electric services All whist observing Covid-19 restrictions to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
Each lab was fitted with new lighting, full decoration and new floor covering ready for the installation of the fitted furniture. Trespa worktops were used, and the project was completed with final connections, testing and commissioning to all of the services. Combined gas & electric automated shutoff safety systems were also installed to all labs.
Academy Business Manager, Traci Wright said:
“A-Z were appointed to refurbish three of our science labs. We were impressed with their approach prior to starting the work, they spent time working with us on getting the plans right and sourcing the high-quality materials we wanted. Unexpectedly, all the work was carried out when COVID-19 restrictions were in place. A-Z adjusted their working methods to ensure safe systems of work were implemented. We are pleased with the refurbished facilities which have been completed to a high standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending A-Z to other schools.”
The transformation to these spaces is remarkable. This was a fantastic and rewarding project to work on.
