Keele University Digital Research & Enterprise Centre

A-Z was appointed designer and supplier for the new Innovation Centre 7. We created seamless, human-centric spaces that delighted staff and students.

A-Z Design Solutions were appointed as designer and supplier of the specialist fitted furniture and various seating requirements by a major contractor for the newly built Innovation Centre 7 building at Keele University.

The brief was to create a contemporary design utilising nature colour tones and natural looking wood elements, within areas required for both quiet study and group collaboration.

The A-Z design team were tasked with creating various bespoke areas including:

  • A storage/study/refreshment station within a corridor area, whilst concealing electric and data services.
  • A wooden presentation wall that allows space for a 75” Smart TV, plant feature shelves and fabric to match the accompanying seating.
  • A printer service station within a break-out area encompassing sound reducing properties.
  • A ‘drop in’ study area for group or individual working.
  • Two fitted kitchens within the two break-out areas.

All this was achieved with seamless styling, whilst working sympathetically with the building’s design and a well-considered colour palette.

A-Z partnered various manufacturers for the study tables and seating to create a mix of furniture solutions to compliment the various requirements and styles necessary for users of both Education and Business partners alike.

The finished project, which included a natural light fed garden collaboration space, complete with 3m moss wall gave the University a welcoming building, offering the latest creative design of an adaptive business hub for today’s ever-changing technology.
